I have visited the Archway several times when traveling on 80 across Nebraska. It is not only an impressive structure, it is also a worthwhile attraction. The museum is a walking tour of the history and sights seen by pioneers, travelers in the 19th century by automobile and, yet to be finished, into the future. The history of the "great river road" is told by words, pictures, exhibits, and full scale reproductions of period furnishings, artifacts and environments encountered along the way. It requires about an hour to be able to say you have "seen" what is presented, but you could easily spend a couple of hours or more to take in all it has to offer. Visit the gift shop, appreciate the surrounding area across the road, the structure of the building; walk around and slow down from the race track that you have been traveling. Imagine crossing the great plains on foot for the first time. There is also an eating establishment but you can easily drive into town and eat at the many places along the main road. It is also a good place to visit after getting gas in town. Children definitely benefit from the living history they experience especially if they are interested in how things "used to be." Please, leave all electronic devices in the car and be prepared to experience the past.
